  • From the sought-after West Country range, this stunning red and yellow bicoloured lupin will bring the sunshine to any garden border or patio pot
  • Blooms from May to June
  • An easy care hardy perennial which loves a sunny, sheltered spot
  • Adds height and colour to a mixed border as an accent plant or in groups. These sturdy lupins are also perfect for containers and can be grown for cutting
  • Grows up to 90cm tall
  • Pollen rich and loved by bees and butterflies
  • Causes discomfort if eaten - wear gloves and wash hands after gardening
  • West Country lupins are bred in Devon by Sarah Colibear for colour, improved disease resistance and vigour. They're a regular feature of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, with four gold medal wins. These lupins produce more flower spikes than traditional lupins and last longer too. Their stronger stems mean that they don't need any staking

How To Grow

Good pest and disease resistance

Lupins can be affected by slugs, snails and aphids. Keep the area around the plant debris free and as dry as possible, especially at night as slugs and snails love damp conditions. You can use barriers such as crushed egg shells, grit or copper wire to surround the plant - these will prevent slugs and snails from reaching the leaves. If you see aphids, remove them by hand or blast them off with a hosepipe, then spray the affected area with soapy water. Lupin smay occasionally suffer from the fungal disease Lupin anthracnose. This appears as brown areas and orange spores on the leaves, and can cause dieback. Prevent it by spacing your plants well to improve airflow, and if affected, remove and destroy the damaged foliage.

Water lightly

Water regularly in summer, but be careful not to overwater as lupins hate to be waterlogged.

Full sun to partial shade

Lupins prefer a sheltered spot with morning sun and some afternoon shade.

Most well-drained soils

Plant in well-drained soil. Lupins prefer neutral to alkaline soil and don't do well in clay or chalk.

Feeding not required

This is a low maintenance plant which gets all the nutrients it needs from the soil.
