The highlights

  • Benefits domestic and wild animals
  • Ideal for farms, paddocks and smallholdings
  • RPA and Natural England BN11 compliant
  • Easy to plant and maintain

Description

  • Everything you need to create a diverse and attractive livestock friendly hedge with added wildlife appeal
  • This collection consists of 45cm+ bare root UK hedging plants specially chosen for their suitability for livestock. All of these plants conform to RPA and Natural England BN11 requirements. Each pack contains 6 hedging plants per square metre, enough to plant a staggered double row.
  • Specially chosen to be impenetrable by livestock but not too spiky, to prevent damage. Beech is added to the mix for a better windbreak in winter. The hedge will need to be protected from livestock until established
  • Each pack will be made up of 50% hawthorn and up to 33% beech plus a mix of wildlife attracting native species such as Cherry Plum, Dog Rose & Dogwood.
  • Planting a mixed livestock friendly hedge improves soil stability and air quality, providing a natural habitat for wildlife. Bees and other pollinating insects are attracted by the flowers in spring and many bird species will feed on the fruits (unless you pick them first!) as well as nesting in the branches. The hedge will also provide shelter and food for small mammals such as hedgehogs
  • Hardy, easy care perennials providing interest throughout the year - Plant in sun or partial shade in any well-drained soil and water well when newly planted
  • See individual plant info pages for detailed care instructions and dimensions
