The highlights

  • Bushy, rounded tree
  • Large tree – grows up to 12m
  • Bright yellow leaves turn green with age
  • Thornless (unlike other honeylocust trees)

Description

  • This tree’s fern-like leaves are truly exceptional, starting out a glorious chartreuse yellow in the spring, before taking on green hues in the summer and reverting to autumnal shades later in the year
  • Small, fragrant flowers appear in spring, readily attracting bees and butterflies to feed on their pollen and nectar
  • The lacy foliage adds a great textural element to the garden and casts a wonderful level of dappled shade – definitely a tree to sit under with a good book on a warm summer’s afternoon!
  • Fully hardy (RHS H6) and fast-growing, these impressive trees make an excellent addition to any medium- or large-sized garden
  • Our potted trees are supplied in EcoPots™. Eco pots use 70% less plastic and are fully recyclable, unlike normal single use pots. They flex and so produce less root spiralling and travel better in the post
  • Our trees are usually between 18 and 36 months old at the time of dispatch
  • Our trees are professionally pruned before dispatching. This formative pruning can involve cutting the main leader, if the expert tree growers decide this will produce a better shaped tree. This can stop the tree becoming "leggy", and promote stronger, bushier growth

How To Grow

Excellent pest and disease resistance

Generally pest and disease free.MORE

A little watering when new

When newly planted, the tree would love a little watering at least once a month for the initial couple of months. Afterwards keep moist but well drained.

Full sun

Position where your tree will receive sunlight for more than 6 hours each day during the spring/summer.

Fertile, well-drained soils

Loam, clay or sandy soil is perfect. You should also consider digging in some organic matter/ compost when planting to improve the soil.

Feed in spring

Apply a general purpose fertiliser when growth starts in the spring - your tree would also benefit from a mulch at the same time. ?v=1613300718
