The highlights

  • Can be shaped in various ways!
  • Large bush (but can be pruned to any height)
  • Gorgeous viridian leaves with a silvery sheen
  • RHS Award of Garden Merit winner

Description

  • An outstanding evergreen with silvery, green-blue leaves that's both fast-growing and easy to care for! The perfect choice to add winter interest to your garden.
  • Small, delicate, creamy-white flowers readily attract bees and butterflies in summer, while the fragrant, rounded foliage is a favourite of florists, taking on silver tones as it matures.
  • While eucalyptus can grow to more than 12 metres, it responds very well to pruning techniques (like coppicing and pollarding) and can be kept as short as just a couple of metres. Whether you grow it as a multi-stemmed shrub or train into an upright specimen tree, this versatile plant can do it all.
  • As your eucalyptus matures, it will shed its bark (or, to use the technical term, it will undergo decortication) to leave a patchwork appearance which only adds to its already-hefty charm.
  • Known to repel insects like mosquitos, the ‘cider gum’ tree (as it’s typically referred to as) is a great choice for planting near water features, ponds, patios and decking.
  • Endemic to the Australian island of Tasmania, eucalyptus leaves are a firm favourite of koalas, who can munch through a whopping 800g per day! Talk about eating your greens…
  • Low maintenance, fully hardy and easy to grow, these plants undoubtedly make an exceptional addition to any garden. Oh, and it’s got an RHS Award of Garden Merit!

Meet Josh's trusted specialists

Start with a touch of continental sun

Over 99% of our plants are grown in the UK, but where that’s not possible, Josh sources the best specialist growers in Europe for the job. Think citrus warmed by Sicilian sun, topiary trained by Dutch masters, almonds nourished in the Dordogne and bamboo bathed in Tuscan heat. Our handpicked growers nurture these plants to maturity before handing over to our team in the South Downs, to toughen them up for UK gardens.
