Description
- If you're looking for a showy bamboo variety, then look no further. 'Spectabilis' is a yellow-caned bamboo, whose deep green grooves and pink colour in immaturity come together to create a truly special plant.
- A larger variety, growing to an ultimate height of six metres, this plant is perfect for creating a privacy screen or hedge. You can, however, also prune your bamboo to fit a smaller space.
- One of the most interesting features of this plant is that it sometimes zigs and zags as it grows! Other times, the culms remain straight and upright, spreading only slightly with time.
- The stems are complemented by appealing green leaves, lanceolate in shape, typically reaching roughly 15cm in length.
- A deserving recipient of the RHS's Award of Garden Merit, this variety has been shown to perform well in British gardens.

Full sun to partial shade
Phyllostachys bamboos like full sun so plant where your bamboo will receive at least five or six hours of direct sunlight per day.
Any moist, well-drained soil
Bamboo plants grow best in fertile soil that drains nicely but retains some moisture. So long as your soil isn't waterlogged or severely dry, however, your plant should grow well enough.

How do I know I'm getting quality plants?

When will I get my plants?
The delivery timescale for each plant is on the web page (near the 'add to basket's button). You'll receive a dispatch email with an exact delivery date once your plants are on their way, so you can get the garden ready.
How will my plants be packed and delivered?
We send all of our orders through a courier network designed to handle plants. Specialist equipment ensures that no plants will be damaged during the packing process and every order is carefully finished and checked by plant-loving humans. Your plants will arrive in the most sustainable packaging possible with minimal to no plastic used.
Where do you deliver?
We deliver to anywhere in Mainland UK for our standard delivery cost. We are able to deliver most plants to Highlands and non UK mainland however this will be at an additional cost. This will be calculated at the checkout. Please note, deliveries to these locations will take longer. Unfortunately, we are not able to deliver to Northern Ireland at present.
