The highlights

  • Grand and Majestic Oak Tree
  • Dark green foliage in summer
  • Spectacular bronze autumn colour
  • Very popular with local wildlife

Description

  • The most iconic English tree, Oak supports more wildlife species than any other native tree, including insects, nesting birds and small mammals, with the acorns providing food for woodland animals such as deer, squirrels and badgers. Even the fallen leaves, when they break down into leaf mould, support hundreds of insect and fungi species. Planting an oak is one of the most environmentally beneficial things you can do!
  • Clusters of multi-lobed, deep green leaves on gently twisting branches, long yellow catkins in spring and acorns in autumn. The leaves turn orange and reddish-brown in autumn.
  • A fully hardy, fast growing tree which will reach a height of approx 10m (unless pruned) and grows well in all types of soil; in sun or partial shade. As your oak matures it will form a broad, spreading crown with sturdy branches beneath
  • Plant as a feature tree in a lawn, in a border or as part of a woodland garden
  • Oak also makes a great hedge plant as its shallow tap root won't deprive nearby plants of water and nutrients
  • Our potted trees are supplied in EcoPots™. Eco pots use 70% less plastic and are fully recyclable, unlike normal single use pots. They flex and so produce less root spiralling and travel better in the post.MORE
  • Our trees are usually between 18 and 36 months old at the time of dispatch.
  • Our trees are professionally pruned before dispatching. This formative pruning can involve cutting the main leader, if the expert tree growers decide this will produce a better shaped tree. This can stop the tree becoming "leggy", and promote stronger, bushier growth.MORE

What To Expect

Supplied as:

Bare Root
Our trees are supplied as “bare roots” meaning that the roots of the trees are established below the ground but not actively growing (dormant) between November and March. As bare roots are stored without any soil or pot, they would easily settle themselves when in contact with soil in your garden. Don't panic if your tree is not showing any sign of growth above the ground comes April, as its still in the dormant phase.
9L Eco Pot
This tree is supplied in a 9L Eco Pot, which is approx D15 x H30cm. Eco Pots use 70% less plastic then traditional pots and can be recycled easily. A 9L pot allows ample space for good root development and can support a good size tree.
