The highlights

  • Unbeatable depth of flavour
  • RHS Plants for Pollinators
  • Great for both eating fresh and cooking
  • Pick your apples from August

Description

  • With two different varieties grafted onto a single rootstock, duo apple trees are as impressive as they are unusual - you just don't see them around that often, which we think is a crying shame!
  • 'Cox's Orange Pippin' is a classic variety that's been grown for a couple of centuries, and honestly, you don't hold that kind of staying power as a variety unless you're pretty darn good! The fruits have green skin, brushed with red, and boast an excellent overall flavour profile
  • 'Elstar' is a wonderful variety that's been awarded the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit (AGM) in recognition of its stellar performance in British gardens. Flushed red in appearance with crisp, white flesh, 'Elstar' apples are bursting with flavour and great for both eating fresh and cooking with
  • Apple trees are recognised by the RHS as one of its Plants for Pollinators, so get ready to see more buzzy bees in your garden!
  • Our trees are usually between 18 and 36 months old at the time of dispatch
  • Our potted trees are supplied in EcoPots™. Eco pots use 70% less plastic and are fully recyclable, unlike normal single use pots. They flex and so produce less root spiralling and travel better in the post
  • Our trees are professionally pruned before dispatching, which helps stop the tree becoming "leggy", and promotes stronger, bushier growth

How To Grow

Average pest and disease resistance

This duo apple tree might, on occasion, be impacted by certain diseases and pests, including aphids, apple canker and powdery mildews.

Water regularly while establishing

Once they've established properly, apple trees don't require a lot of additional watering, however newly-planted trees will benefit from regular watering, particularly in hot, dry weather.

Full sun

Your duo apple tree will grow best in full sun (at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day).

Any fertile, well-drained soil

This tree will grow in most soil conditions provided drainage is good. The more fertile your soil, the better growth and fruiting will be.

Feed every spring

In spring, apply a high-potassium fertiliser to give your tree a little boost.
