The highlights

  • Well shaped native tree with glossy dark green foliage
  • Clusters of double pink blooms in April and May
  • Essential for wildlife friendly gardens
  • RHS Award of Garden Merit winner

Description

  • A beautifully well shaped English Hawthorn tree which explodes in a stunning floral display in spring when its branches are covered in clusters of double, pink blossoms, contrasting with dark green, glossy foliage
  • Small red haws appear in autumn, much to the delight of the birds, and the leaves turn to warm shades of orange, yellow and bronze
  • A hardy, low maintenance deciduous tree which will thrive in even coastal, exposed, polluted or damp sites
  • Grows to 4-8m tall and can be pruned to fit even the smallest gardens. Double Pink looks especially lovely as a specimen tree in a cottage garden and can even be used as hedging
  • Beneficial to a range of wildlife including bees and other pollinating insects, birds and small mammals
  • RHS Award of Garden Merit winner
  • Our trees are professionally pruned before dispatching. This formative pruning can involve cutting the main leader, if the expert tree growers decide this will produce a better shaped tree. This can stop the tree becoming "leggy", and promote stronger, bushier growth.MORE

How To Grow

Excellent pest and disease resistance

Generally unbothered by pests and diseases.

A little watering when new

When newly planted, the tree would love a little watering at least once a month for the initial couple of months. Afterwards keep moist but well drained.

Full sun to partial shade

Plant in a sunny, sheltered position. This tree will tolerate a little partial shade but will flower best in full sun (Around 6 hours of sunlight per day)

Any fertile, well-drained soil

Prefers fertile well draining soil. Can also tolerate clay soil but you will need to take some steps to improve drainage, such as mixing in fine horticultural grit or perlite to the surrounding soil when planting.

No feeding required

This tree gets all the nutrients it needs from the soil
