How To Grow

Excellent pest and disease resistance

Our vegetable plug plants are bred for good pest and disease resistance, but may still be susceptible to common problems. The only issue you might encounter with beetroot is rodents - if your plants look nibbled, cover them with fleece or netting.

Water regularly

To prevent your beetroots from splitting, the ground needs to be kept consistently moist. If the soil is dry to the touch, then give the plant some water.

Full sun

Beetroot need to be planted in full sun. This should be somewhere where they will receive 6-8 hours of sunlight every day.

Any fertile, well-draining soil

Will grow well in a mix of three parts compost and one part topsoil. Beetroots do not like soil that is above pH7 (neutral) and prefer a slightly acidic soil between 6-8.

Feed regularly

Use a liquid seaweed feed every two weeks to help provide your soil with important nutrients such as boron, which are essential for healthy beetroot growth.
