How To Grow

Good pest and disease resistance

Pittosporum rarely has issues with pests and disease, but in crowded and humid conditions can have problems with downy mildew. To prevent downy mildew you should try to prevent crowded and humid conditions. Properly space plants apart and get rid of any weeds. Water at the soil and try to prevent soil splashing from the soil onto the leaves. Watch out for Pittosporum suckers, a sap sucking insect that comes from below the graft union of the plant. Pull them off when young, or prune out affected foliage. You can also encourage predators such as birds, wasps, ground beetles and ladybirds.

Water lightly

Keep the soil from drying out, but be careful not to overwater.

Full sun to partial shade

Pittosporum will produce brighter foliage in full sun, but also thrives in partial shade.

Any moist, well-drained soil

Pittosporum do well in any moist, well-drained soil. If your soil is particularly clay-heavy and/or often becomes waterlogged then you can improve the drainage by adding in plenty of organic matter such as garden compost as well as some perlite or gravel.

Feeding not required

This plant gets all the nutrients it needs from the soil. ?v=1613300718
