The highlights

  • Medium tree - grows up to 4m
  • White springtime blossom with a hint of pink
  • Loved by thrushes and blackbirds

Description

  • The perfect ornamental tree for year round interest
  • Wildlife can't stay away from this tree - it attracts bees, butterflies and garden birds
  • Heavy crops of beautiful bright golden-yellow fruits in autumn and into winter
  • Makes fantastic jams, jellies and cider
  • Pink-tinged white blossom covers the tree in spring
  • Compact size for smaller gardens
  • Our trees are professionally pruned before dispatching. This formative pruning can involve cutting the main leader, if the expert tree growers decide this will produce a better shaped tree. This can stop the tree becoming "leggy", and promote stronger, bushier growth.MORE

How To Grow

Average pest and disease resistance

May need protection from aphids, woolly aphid, fruit tree red spider mite and caterpillars. It could also be affected by apple scab, apple cranker and powdery mildews. Be cautious of fire blight.MORE

A little watering when new

When newly planted, the trees would love a little watering at least once a month for the initial couple of months. Afterwards keep moist but well drained.

Full sun to partial shade

This Crabapple tree loves full sun or partial shade in a sheltered location. Choosing a spot away from strong winds will allow all the tree's resources to go towards growing blossom and protecting its display.

Most fertile, well-drained soils

This tree will flourish in any moderately fertile, moist and well drained soil except for chalk.

Feed when first planted

After planting your tree add some fertiliser and cover with mulch to ensure all the water and nutrients get to the roots. Over time, replace the mulch and feed the tree with slow release fertiliser annually to help the plant maintain its growth and create a beautiful display of blossom. ?v=1613300718
