The highlights

  • A lovely, traditional-tasting raspberry
  • RHS Award of Garden Merit winner
  • Bake a gorgeous lemon and raspberry cake
  • Harvest from July to August

Description

  • One of the most widely-grown varieties, commercially, and perfect for the average garden, too!
  • Loved for its very sweet flavour and large, long-lasting fruit.
  • Very easy to grow, 'Tulameen' forms mid-sized clumps and has fewer thorns than most other varieties.
  • Plant on a sunny spot in rows, with 50cm between canes and tie into supports as they grow. Can even be planted in a large pot (40cm+ in diameter).
  • Expect large crops from mid-July, lasting nearly two months!
  • Floricane (summer-fruiting) variety. Floricane varieties fruit on last year's wood, so it's important to get the pruning right. Cut back the canes that fruited at the end of the summer, leaving roughly eight that didn't fruit (these will be green stems) to grow next year. These canes will bear your next harvest.

How To Grow

Excellent

Has been bred for excellent disease resistance. Your biggest problem, as with most soft fruit, is that they are so delicious that local wildlife will want to eat them too. Grow in a polytunnel, or use a fruit net to keep birds off.MORE

Keep well watered

Water in thoroughly when planting. Raspberries prefer moist soils so make sure that they are well watered throughout summer, especially during drier periods. 1/2 time a week increasing to every other day when hot/ dry.

Full sun

Full sun means receiving direct sun for more than 6 hours each day during the spring/summer.

Prefers fertile, well draining soil.

Loam or sandy soil is perfect. You should also consider digging in some organic matter/ compost when planting to improve the soil

No need to feed

Don't worry, this isn't a hungry plant so your food bills won't be going up!
