How To Grow

Average pest and disease resistance

May be affected by aphids, slugs, snails, hemerocallis gall midge, fungal leaf spot and rust diseases or bacterial leaf and stem rot. Most of these diseases can be prevented by spacing plants well so that plenty of air can flow between them and watering at the base of the plant so that water doesn't stand on the leaves.

Water when newly planted

Water regularly throughout the first growing season - after this your plants will be drought tolerant. Those in pots will need additional watering.

Full sun to partial shade

Position where the plant will receive at least 4-6 hours of sunlight every day during summer and spring. This variety can handle partial shade where it receives its light as dappled shade.

Any moist, well-drained soil

Mix in plenty of organic matter such as garden compost into the soil before planting and more every spring. If your soil is particularly clay-heavy and easily becomes waterlogged, add some perlite into the soil to improve drainage.

Feed annually

Daylilies don't generally need feeding, but a sprinkle of all purpose fertilizer every spring will maximise growth. Plants in containers will need regular feeding throughout the growing season.
